Rastenbach Gorge

A popular excursion destination between Castelvecchio and Lake Caldaro is the natural monument: the Rastenbach gorge. The Rastenbach stream has been flowing through the gorge, which is characterised by small waterfalls and ivy-covered trees, for many decades. Along the way are the ruins of St Peter's Basilica, probably the oldest church in South Tyrol. There is also a closed cave in the Rastenbachklamm gorge especially for bats.
