Lake Caldaro in the lowlands of South Tyrol is considered the warmest bathing lake in the Alps. It is also one of the largest lakes in South Tyrol. The lake is around 1.8 kilometres long, 0.9 kilometres wide and 5.6 metres deep at its deepest point. Numerous fish species such as carp, roach, trout perch and pike can be found in the nutrient-rich water. Lake Caldaro is not only ideal for swimming, windsurfing, sailing and pedal boating are also very popular.
